Abstract

This report analyzes all the many different network configurations by using Cisco Packet Tracer, along with several other network diagnostics (such as Wireshark and TCPDUMP) to assess the performance of each. The purpose of this report was to provide a better understanding of how all parts of the network functioned via simulated examples (including but not limited to; configuring DHCP, performing FTP file transfers, segmenting VLANs and simulating a congested network). The report demonstrated how devices obtained IP addresses from DHCP servers, showed how files were transferred over ftp server/client architectures, illustrated inter VLAN communications and validation through ICMP testing and provided evidence of how network congestion affected packet flows. The data gathered from the experiment included packet capture information, ARP/ICMP testing, DHCP exchange activity and ftp login events which were then examined at various levels of the OSI model and at real time to gain further insight into the workings of each level.

Data Network Performance Metrics Optimization in Heterogeneous Environments

It is concluded that effective network upgrades should integrate infrastructure design, protocol optimization, monitoring transparency, and context-sensitive reliability planning rather than rely solely on increased bandwidth capacity.

Design and Simulation of Hotspot Network Management on MikroTik RouterBOARD Using the Hierarchical Token Bucket Method

The main problem identified through the NDLC (Network Development Life Cycle) approach is the inability of the existing router configuration to efficiently manage increasing internet traffic demand. This occurs because high traffic loads affect network access performance and reduce service quality in IP-based data comm...

IMPLEMENTATION OF SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKING FOR SIMULATION AND ANALYSIS OF DDOS ATTACKS ON SCHOOL NETWORKS

The development of digital services in school environments has increased the importance of network security, particularly in addressing Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks that can disrupt network service availability. This study aims to develop a school network security simulation based on Software Defined Ne...

NETWORK SECURITY OPTIMIZATION USING VLAN, FIREWALL, AND ACL AT PT. ANDALAN NIAGA EXPRESSINDO

PT. Andalan Niaga Expressindo (ANX), an international freight-forwarding company, currently runs a computer network without VLAN segmentation or an Access Control List (ACL), so all divisions share one broadcast domain with unrestricted inter-division access, raising the risk of unauthorized access to company data. Thi...
