The role of external evaluation in developing the teaching quality of secondary vocational education
Abstract
In this study, the influence of the external evaluation of the institution on the development of teaching quality was examined by observing two key areas - Teaching and learning and Student support. These two key areas were viewed as independent variables, the individual values of which were directly declared by the students, with the help of quality monitoring indicators defined as statements in the questionnaire. Among the important indicators used in examining the quality of teaching were: development of key competencies, use of modern teaching tools and cross-subject correlation, use of different teaching methods and techniques, strengthening of the role of students in the teaching process, initiation of different teaching models and other indicators. Significant indicators of support for students are: providing different types of support, family involvement, providing opportunities for active participation in extracurricular activities, promoting healthy lifestyles, developing a sense of security among students, and other quality indicators. The research model in this study was designed to examine the impact of two selected areas on the quality of the institution's work, namely the impact of two quality areas on student satisfaction with the results of external evaluation, which represents the main research question in this study. The survey was conducted in three areas of the school's work: Trade, hospitality and tourism, Mechanical engineering and metal processing, and Agriculture, food production and processing. The research results indicate significant impacts of the observed key areas on the quality of work. Also, the results indicate that the observed quality areas significantly contribute to students' satisfaction, which can be directly linked to the external evaluation of the institution. The results of this study can help related schools in the field of tourism and hospitality, as well as other institutions of primary and secondary education, prepare for external evaluation and adopt an action plan to improve the quality of the institution's work after this process.
