Replication materials for "The marginal value of alternative data in credit screening: Evidence from Chinese digital lending"

Oct 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

Replication materials accompanying “The marginal value of alternative data in credit screening: Evidence from Chinese digital lending” by Yuan Chen and Jiawei Xu. The package contains instructions for obtaining the source data, environment specifications, data processing and modelling scripts, parameter settings, random seeds, source-file checksums, aggregate results, and scripts for rebuilding the manuscript tables and figures. The full analysis was rerun in an isolated Python environment. All 41 aggregate reference CSV files matched the rerun outputs. The Table S4 implementation was reconstructed from the documented specification and numerically verified against the saved results. Convergence warnings affecting some logistic regression candidates are documented in the package. Raw borrower-level data and individual predictions are not included. Users must obtain the input data from the original providers and comply with their access and reuse conditions. Data acquisition and execution instructions are provided in the README. Funding: This research was funded by the Humanity and Social Science Research Project of Anhui Educational Committee (Youth Project), grant number 2025AHGXSK40238.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

Trajectory Balance: Improved Credit Assignment in GFlowNets

It is proved that any global minimizer of the trajectory balance objective can define a policy that samples exactly from the target distribution, and empirically demonstrate the benefits of the trajectories balance objective for GFlowNet convergence, diversity of generated samples, and robustness to long action sequenc...

What AI gets wrong and what failure teaches us

Jennifer Neville did not want to go into computer science—but that’s exactly where she landed. Neville discusses the starts and stops that led to her professional sweet spot and her work identifying “surprising failures” making it hard for AI to handle complexity.  The post What AI gets wrong and what failure teaches us appeared first on Microsoft Research.
