Abstract

This study examines the awareness of Government and Private Scholarship Schemes among higher education students in Coimbatore District. Scholarships play an important role in providing financial assistance to students from different socio-economic backgrounds and help them pursue higher education without financial constraints. Despite the availability of numerous scholarship schemes offered by the Central Government, State Government, educational institutions, and private organizations, many students are not fully aware of these opportunities. The study aims to assess the level of awareness regarding various scholarship schemes, identify the sources through which students obtain scholarship-related information, and examine the factors influencing their awareness. The research adopted a descriptive research design using both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected from 600 higher education students through a structured questionnaire, while secondary data were collected from books, journals, government reports, and websites. The findings are expected to help educational institutions and policymakers improve awareness programmes and ensure that deserving students benefit from available scholarship schemes.
