Abstract

Air pollution stands as a critical environmental issue, posing severe risks to human health, ecosystems, and the long-term viability of urban areas. Conventional air quality monitoring solutions tend to be costly, intricate, and hard to deploy widely. To overcome these hurdles, this study introduces an inexpensive, real-time air quality sensing and control platform built around microcontroller and sensor integration. The system continuously tracks temperature, humidity, and pollutant concentrations, presents the data on an LCD panel, and automatically triggers an exhaust fan once pollutant thresholds are breached. Leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the gathered measurements can be sent to the ThingSpeak cloud for remote data access and visualization, aligning well with smart city initiatives. By merging instant monitoring with automated mitigation in an affordable, streamlined package, the setup can be adopted in residential, industrial, and public settings. The overarching aim of this work is to foster healthier indoor and outdoor environments through practical, cost-effective air quality management tools.
