DEVELOPMENT OF PRESCHOOLERS’ SENSORY ABILITIES THROUGH CREATIVITY AND THERAPY IN MODELING

Sep 2026 · Pedagogical Bulletin of Kazakhstan · 0 citations

Abstract

The article presents a methodology for working on the development of preschool children in the creative area of modeling. Modeling, due to the materials used in this type of creative activity, is suggested to have a positive influence on the sensory development of children, their aesthetic feelings, and positive emotions based on observed interactions. This is because elements of art therapy are involved, which undoubtedly may have a beneficial effect on the preschooler’s development, including psychological correction, speech, breathing, logical reasoning, fine motor skills, and color perception. Modeling activities primarily contribute to relieving muscle tension and promoting relaxation in the child. Art therapy techniques in plastilinography, for example, extensively engage fine motor skills and immerse children in their own sensory experiences, allowing them to freely imagine and fantasize. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying creative thinking through engagement with malleable materials, broadening knowledge of the interaction between sensorimotor experiences and cognitive development. The study further explores the influence of modeling activities on the development of fine motor skills, emotional regulation, creativity, and cognitive functions such as memory, attention, and spatial reasoning. The results reported are based on empirical observations and measurements within the scope of this study. Therefore, the findings may provide a preliminary foundation for future research and the development of innovative methods for education and therapeutic correction, rather than conclusive evidence.Modeling as a tool of art therapy can be used to work with children experiencing psycho-emotional difficulties, motor impairments, or cognitive disorders. However, further empirical validation is needed to confirm its efficacy for these specific groups. In family upbringing, parents can apply the proposed methods to support their children’s development at home, with consideration of individual differences and professional guidance where necessary.
