Abstract

This paper reviews current developments in UAV airspace surveillance and security management, emphasizing the role of multi-sensor surveillance, Remote Identification, geographic information systems, and weather-aware monitoring. The study also discusses current research challenges and future directions in intelligent airspace management, highlighting the importance of integrated surveillance architectures to improve aviation safety and operational efficiency. The rapid growth of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operations has significantly transformed modern airspace, creating new challenges for surveillance, safety, and security. The increasing number of civilian and commercial UAV applications requires efficient airspace management systems that ensure safe integration with conventional aviation while maintaining situational awareness and regulatory compliance. Recent advances in sensor technologies, artificial intelligence, and Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) have improved the capability to detect, identify, and monitor UAV operations in real time.
