Abstract

Two wheeler road accidents remain a major public safety concern in India, particularly among ecommerce delivery riders who face tight deadlines, long hours, and dense traffic. Conventional helmets provide basic protection but fail to address critical risk factors such as helmet non usage, alcohol consumption, fatigue, over speeding, and delayed emergency response. In this paper we have proposed an intelligent helmet system which enhances the rider safety by preventing the accident by using the system integrated with Internet of Things (IoT). This system has integrated different features such as alcohol sensing, rider speed monitoring, geofencing, accident and helmet detection. This uses embedded sensors, ESP32 microcontroller, Mobile app and a cloud service. No safety, No start mechanism was implemented using a relay based ignition interlock system. The audio alert mechanism will send the alert guidance to the biker rider so that it will prevent them from distraction. In case of accidents, the system automatically sends location and crash details to emergency contacts for rapid response. Experimental results show improved safety compliance, reduced false alerts, and faster emergency assistance, making it a practical and scalable solution.
