A Lightweight And Secure Communication Framework For Tunnel-Free DMM Networks

Sep 2026 · European Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry · 0 citations

Abstract

Existing architectures of Distributed Mobility Management (DMM) present a critical security gap as they typically lack dedicated security frameworks and they rely on poor security at Layer 2. This vulnerability is more critical in the context of Tunnel-Free DMM (TFDMM) environments where direct communication exists between Correspondent Nodes (CN) and Mobile Nodes (MN) without the buffer of traditional tunneling. To counter these threats, this paper proposes a secure end-to-end communication framework for TFDMM by leveraging ECC-DH key exchange for generating secured session keys. The framework achieves data confidentiality and message integrity by combining symmetric encryption and HMAC-based authentication. Its security features are formally verified using BAN logic, ensuring the correctness of session key generation and message origin verification. The effectiveness of this ECC-DH framework was simulated and compared with a standard RSA-based security model. The results indicate that the proposed system has a significant performance advantage in terms of a 24.24% increase in network throughput, 8.02% reduction in endto-end latency, 30.65% decrease in packet drops, enhancing reliability, 75.73% improvement in overall energy efficiency, making it ideal for resource-constrained mobile devices.
