Total Quality Management (TQM) and its Role in Achieving School Accreditation Standards in Public Education Schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Abstract
This research aimed to analyze the role of Total Quality Management (TQM) in activating school accreditation standards in public education schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It examined the relationship between TQM principles and school accreditation requirements, analyzed the Saudi public education context in light of quality and accreditation trends, and identified ways to benefit from continuous improvement, institutional participation, stakeholder focus, and data-based decision-making. The research adopted the documentary/library method by analyzing educational literature, official documents, and relevant previous studies. The findings indicated that school accreditation represents a practical application of TQM principles; however, its effectiveness depends on transforming it from a formal procedure based on collecting evidence into a sustainable institutional practice reflected in learning outcomes. The results also revealed several challenges, including administrative centralization, weak quality culture, limited professional qualification, and excessive paperwork requirements. The research recommended adopting the Lean Digital Accreditation model, enhancing school autonomy, and building a quality culture grounded in excellence and continuous improvement to support the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
