Revitalisasi Tujuan dan Fungsi Pembelajaran SKI: Penguatan Nilai Edukatif dalam Pendidikan Islam di MI
Abstract
Instruction in the History of Islamic Culture (SKI) at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary school) level plays a strategic role in shaping students’ knowledge, character, and personality through the internalization of religious, moral, and social values and the emulation of exemplary figures. However, SKI instruction faces challenges, including teacher-centered methods, rote memorization, and limited use of technology. This study aims to examine the nature, objectives, and functions of SKI instruction, analyze the urgency of its revitalization, and identify strategies to strengthen educational values in Islamic education. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research. Data were collected through documentary studies of relevant books, scholarly articles, and official documents and analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that revitalizing SKI instruction requires storytelling-based learning, digital media, contextual learning, and strengthened character education. These strategies create more innovative, interactive, and meaningful learning experiences, enhance students’ understanding of Islamic history and culture, and reinforce religious, moral, and social values in daily life. Thus, revitalizing SKI instruction is essential for improving Islamic education quality and developing students with strong character and noble morals who can face modern challenges without abandoning Islamic values.
