Evidence-Aware Multicriteria Assessment for Industrial Lighting Audits: Separating Performance from Evidence Coverage

Abstract

Industrial lighting audits may combine heterogeneous measurements into performance scores without demonstrating whether the underlying evidence is sufficiently complete, representative, and traceable. This study proposes an evidence-aware multicriteria assessment framework that separates performance evaluation from evidence coverage. Visual, energy, and operational indicators are evaluated only when supporting evidence is available and an applicable criterion has been declared, while evidence quality is reported separately through an evidence-coverage measure. The methodology is illustrated using field records from an industrial research hall under daylight-only and mixed daylight/electric-light conditions. Because no representative whole-installation operating state, applicable task-plane grid, or circuit-level electrical campaign was available, the case is treated as a methodological illustration rather than a compliance assessment or full validation of the installation. The framework prevents non-equivalent records from being combined into a single performance criterion, distinguishes missing evidence from undeclared targets, and converts evidence gaps into a prioritized measurement-completion plan. In the case study, weighted evidence coverage is 36.0%, indicating that measurement completion rather than global performance classification is the immediate audit priority. The proposed approach improves the transparency, traceability, and defensibility of industrial lighting audits conducted under incomplete evidence.

When Is a Short Audit Record Sufficient? An Audit-to-Decision Procedure for Industrial Compressed Air Systems

Short industrial compressed-air audits can contain thousands of samples while representing only a few dependent operating episodes. Autocorrelation therefore makes nominal sample count an unreliable basis for deciding whether a low-flow regime is sufficiently supported for an energy-efficiency or maintenance action. Th...

NUP-REPORT 1.0: A Proposed Reporting and Benchmarking Framework for Non-Upright Pedestrian Detection and Pre-Crash Safety Evaluation

Highlights What are the main findings? NUP-REPORT 1.0 proposes six reporting domains and a 30-item checklist comprising 23 core items (19 universal and four component-contingent) and seven conditional items for non-upright pedestrian sensing and pre-crash evaluation. A purposive 20-publication feasibility audit illustr...

Audit-Aware SSDI-MoE Framework for Periodic Health Assessment of Centrifugal Chillers in Existing Buildings

The large stock of existing buildings creates demand for chiller assessment during energy retrofit and operation. However, many methods assume access to water flow, separately metered chiller power, and real-time cooling capacity. These measurements are often unavailable in existing plants, preventing online COP calcul...

What Does Sensor Performance Really Mean? A Four-Layer Framework for Interpreting Air Quality Sensor Performance Evaluations

Air quality (AQ) sensors are increasingly used to complement sparse reference-grade monitoring networks, enabling denser spatial coverage, rapid deployment, and new monitoring approaches. Yet, sensor performance evaluations (SPEs) are often communicated through headline metrics and comparative benchmarks that may obs...

Development of National Guidelines for Improvement of Building Envelopes Airtightness Measures

Airtightness of the building envelope is critical for reducing energy use, limiting convective moisture transport, improving indoor air quality and safeguarding the durability of building components. Despite two decades of regulatory airtightness requirements in Estonia, the absence of coherent national guidance has le...

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT PRACTICES IN ACCELERATED ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE RECOVERY: EVIDENCE FROM A REMOTE INFRASTRUCTURE RESTORATION PROJECT

Accelerated restoration requires reliable performance information because deviations can compound quickly under compressed schedules and constrained operating conditions. This study examined the relationship between performance measurement practices and accelerated electrical infrastructure recovery performance in a re...
