Abstract

Attaining resilient supply chains in the current corporate landscape is crucial to ensuring foolproof management and end-to-end production security. For this, Digital Twin (DT) emerges as a suitable choice as it offers promising avenues for optimizing supply chain operations. However, its implementation is hindered by domain-specific challenges like inadequate stakeholder understanding, integration, and data quality issues. To mitigate this, an innovative framework for integration DT within industrial supply chain operations is proposed. A structured three-stage hybrid methodology is implemented to assess, rank, and prioritize relevant factors influencing DT use. Analysis reveals that opportunities like improved service performance, enhanced data accuracy, and challenges like calibration difficulties and network complexities emerge to highly affect application of DTs for supply chain development. Findings strongly suggest that while DT-based opportunities help improve supply chain management, overcoming its integration barriers is critical to ensure long-term resilience.
