Abstract

This study employed a correlational research design. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and learning motivation in Biology among Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 2 Siak Hulu in the 2025/2026 academic year. The instruments used for data collection were observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The study was conducted from June 10 to June 27, 2026. The sampling technique used in this study was saturated sampling, with a total sample of 202 students. The questionnaires consisted of 35 statements measuring self-efficacy and 32 statements measuring learning motivation. The results showed a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.620, indicating a strong positive relationship between self-efficacy and learning motivation. Hypothesis testing showed that the t-value (11.18) was greater than the t-table value (1.972) at a 5% significance level, indicating that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) showed that self-efficacy accounted for 38.4% of the variance in students' learning motivation, while the remaining 61.6% was associated with other variables or factors not examined in this study.
