Abstract
Aim.
The aim is to identify, describe and systematize difficulties of sociocultural adaptation in legal texts translation practices and analyze the influence of the context on the adequacy of the translation as well as the reasons of translation errors.
Methodology.
The methods of contextual, comparative, corpus, linguocultural as well as descriptive analysis were applied during the research based on selected authentic English and Russian texts in mass media, legal and scientific discourse.
Results.
The work shows the need for carrying out a multidimentional analysis of national cultural peculiarities of the original text and target language speakers in order to avoid probable translation mistakes.
Research implications.
To solve the problem of multiple terminology interpretations by recipients, including legal norms in Legalese, the hermeneutic-communication approach may be an adequate choice. In the article the author develops the theory of the cultural component of meaning detected in the process of the lexical-semantic analysis of terminological units in the humanitarian fields of knowledge, and focuses on the sociocultural and pragmatic aspects of legal terminology interlingual translation. The paper also lists examples of translation manipulations applied in order to ensure correct interlingual semantic transference of some confusing English legal terms into Russian.
This article examines the linguistic and cultural aspects of translating socio-political Arab (Iraqi) realities within the context of an intercultural approach in Russian-language media during a period of forced communication. Language, as a means of mass communication, quickly responds to all changes occurring in the modern world. Non-equivalent vocabulary undoubtedly plays a key role in shaping the linguistic picture of the world, reflecting the historical experience, thought processes, and cultural traditions of a particular people. In the context of the American occupation of Iraq after 2003 and active intercultural contact, translation has acquired key significance as a means of effective communication between representatives of different cultures. Translation strategies are determined by an anthropological approach, which in modern scholarship is considered the methodological basis of both general linguistics and translation studies. Undoubtedly, translation during this period faces numerous challenges in conveying elements reflecting the national and cultural characteristics of vocabulary and expressions denoting realities characteristic of one culture and which may be perceived differently in another cultural environment, as well as preserving their cultural nuances, which may be incomprehensible or interpreted differently in another cultural context. Arabic lexical units with national and cultural specificity (realia) used in Russian media, their translations into Russian, and methods of adapting such units, as well as their impact on the accurate conveyance of cultural context, are the subject of this study.
The growing intensity of interlegal and intercultural interaction in the field of law necessitates the study of mechanisms for adequate transmission of culturally specific legal terms. The study aimed to determine the regularities of reproduction of legal concepts related to specific cultural and legal contexts in the process of translation between different legal systems. The comparative analysis of three term-centric corpora in the language pairs English–German, English–French, and English–Albanian was conducted using the methods of comparative terminology research and recording of translation strategies. The study established that culturally specific terms pose a translation challenge due to the lack of direct functional equivalents in many legal systems. The study determined that the level of intersystemic equivalence directly depends on the kinship of legal systems: the highest rates were recorded for language pairs within the Romance and Germanic traditions. The scope, benefits, and risks of each strategy were clarified, depending on the type of text and target audience. Achieving intersystemic equivalence requires a combination of lexical, functional, and systemic correspondence of terms. Effective translation depends on a deep analysis of both legal systems and a balanced choice of translation strategy. The results can be used to create unified terminology bases and develop methodological guidelines for translating legal texts in a multilingual environment.

The work is a fragment of the research project «Medical Discourse as an Object of Comprehensive Analysis: Linguistics, Linguodidactics, Intercultural Communication, Literary Studies» (state registration number: 0124U001310). The aim of the study is to provide a systematic analysis of linguistic and speech‑ related deviations from normative usage identiՔed in the process of mastering Latin medical terminology by future physicians, to determine the psycholinguistic and linguodidactic causes of their occurrence, and to outline ways of preventing and minimizing them. The relevance of the topic is determined by the need to improve the level of professional linguistic competence of future physicians and the necessity to enhance the methodology of teaching medical Latin. The methodological basis of the study includes linguistic, psycholinguistic, and linguodidactic approaches, as well as analysis, synthesis, systematization, generalization, observation, contrastive analysis, and structural‑ semantic analysis. The research results revealed the main types of abnormalities, identiՔed the causes of their occurrence, and determined the role of interlanguage interference and cognitive mechanisms in the formation of errors. It has been substantiated that the analysis of abnormalities is an important tool not only for improving the methodology of teaching medical Latin, but also for gaining a deeper understanding of the processes of acquiring professional terminology. The conclusions demonstrate the necessity of a comprehensive approach to preventing abnormalities in the learning process. Based on the research Քndings, a system of methodological recommendations aimed at preventing and minimizing typical errors has been proposed. Prospects for further research related to the study of cognitive mechanisms underlying the generation of abnormalities, as well as the in̪uence of the digital language environment and AI on the formation of professional speech among medical students, have been outlined.

Recent research in translation studies has emphasised the function of the text as the
focus of translation analysis. The implication of this for legal translation is that the
expected effects of the target text determine the strategies adopted in the translation
process. Given that legal terminology presents various levels of challenges to
translators, it would be advantageous for legal translation analysis to adopt a more
specific approach, and for translator training to incorporate more specialised
knowledge. It is within this context that this study sought to investigate the
terminological challenges of legal translation and provide a platform to further
investigate the implications for legal translation and social justice in general,
particularly in a country such as South Africa where the field of legal translation is
‘under-researched’ and ‘has received little, if any, attention in translation theory and at
tertiary institutions’ (Cornelius 2011: 123). The study draws from the Descriptive
Translation Studies’ (DTS) sub-branches, namely, the process-oriented approach,
product-oriented approach and function-oriented approach. This is because of the
relations that exist between these approaches in translation. In this regard, Toury
(1995) argues that there is no point in conducting a product-oriented study if questions
relating to the determining force of its intended function, and to the choices made by
the translator governed by the norms of establishing a product, are not considered. In
advancing his argument, Toury contends that it is the function of the translation
through its linguistic make-up and/or relationships that connect it to the original, which
yield and govern the strategies which are adopted during the production of the
translation that would result in a translation process as a whole. The study adopted a
qualitative case study design approach to gain a deeper understanding of the
translation decisions made by translators within a particular context, in light of the
translation challenges that they encounter when translating legal texts. The study used
a thematic analysis method to analyse translation styles employed by translators in
the translation of eThekwini Municipality By-Laws. The translation styles were
identified and exemplified in the framework of three broad categories: legal terms -
technical terms, polysemous words and word strings/legal synonyms; linguistic terms - modal verbs, archaic adverbs, collocations, ambiguous/vague words, long sentences
and passive voice, and culture-specific terms/expressions. Norms were also identified that are at play during the translation act. Data was accessed from the eThekwini
Municipality website. It consisted of eight pieces of legislation in English and their
translations. The findings of the study reveal that the main challenges encountered by
the translators of the selected legal texts were both linguistic and socio-cultural in
nature. As a result, the translators adopt various translation styles such as borrowing,
adaptation, naturalisation, paraphrasing, and functional equivalents to render the
source texts in the target language. These styles produced translations are generally
acceptable in the isiZulu language and culture, even though a few of the translations
led to meaning shifts in the target language. The norms that were operational during
the translation process shaped translators’ decision-making with respect to the
translation styles they adopted in the translation. This is consistent with Toury’s (1995)
assertion that norms determine the translation strategies that a translator adopts. In
other words, they serve as a guide in the translation process regarding strategies
used.
The aim of the research is to identify the substantial properties of communicative behavior in the context of the functioning of discourse culture in the Russian and French languages. The differences and similarities in how native speakers of Russian and French use their language for interaction and the transmission of cultural norms are considered. The research methodology is based on a comparative and pragmatic approach, the analysis of corpora of everyday texts, media discourse, and transcripts of real conversations (in French and Russian). The scientific novelty of the work lies primarily in the transition from a strictly linguistic approach (with an emphasis on grammar and vocabulary) to a comprehensive and interactional-comparative approach. Elements of novelty are found in the pragmatic and non-verbal aspects of the study in terms of identifying specific discourse markers, as well as a contrastive comparison of non-verbal interaction codes and the confessional foundations of communicative behavior characteristic of each culture. The key epistemological positions of the work are developed within the framework of analyzing the category of "linguistic universals" in synergy with the concept of "ethno-cultural features." The results obtained outline new perspectives in understanding intercultural communication mechanisms, the pragmatic-semiological aspect of data interpretation, and post-communicative linguodidactics, as well as open new epistemological horizons for the study of national mentalities and discoursological worldviews.

This article examines the influence of English on Vietnamese in the context of globalisation, with particular attention to lexical borrowing, code-switching, digital discourse, and language attitudes. Grounded in contact linguistics, sociolinguistic theory, and language ideology studies, the paper uses a qualitative design that combines naturalistic observation of public and digital language practices with a systematic review of recent scholarship on English-Vietnamese contact. The analysis shows that English influence is most visible in the lexical domain, especially in technology, education, business, and popular culture. English-Vietnamese code-switching is also widespread in youth-oriented and digitally mediated communication, where it serves pragmatic functions such as emphasis, brevity, and topic framing, as well as social functions such as identity performance and in-group solidarity. Syntactic and phonological influences appear more limited and register-specific, although Englishinfluenced discourse markers, passive constructions, and loanword pronunciation patterns are increasingly noticeable among proficient bilingual users. The study further indicates that attitudes toward English influence remain ambivalent: younger speakers often treat bilingual hybridity as a sign of modernity and global identity, while purist concerns persist in public and institutional discourse. The paper concludes with implications for Vietnamese language policy and English education.
