Social Intelligence Relationship with Personality Traits among Koya University Students
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between social intelligence and personality traits, as well as to identify their levels and differences based on the variables of gender and academic stage. Using a descriptive-correlational methodology, the study sample consisted of 700 students from Koya University selected through stratified random sampling. The research employed a researcher-developed social intelligence scale, but the personality traits scale by (Allawi, 1989). After establishing the validity and reliability of these instruments, the data were analyzed using arithmetic means, standard deviations, one-sample and independent samples t-tests, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and one-way ANOVA., The results indicated a high level of social intelligence among students, with statistically significant differences observed based on gender and academic stage, favoring females and fourth-year students. Regarding personality traits, the level was generally high; however, no statistically significant differences were found in relation to gender or academic stage. Finally, a weak positive correlation was identified between social intelligence and personality traits, leading the researcher to propose a set of recommendations and suggestions.
