A Study on the Construction of Women’s Professional Images and Stereotypes in the Perspective of Digital Media
Abstract
The popularization of digital media has profoundly changed the way women’s professional images are communicated. However, technological empowerment has not automatically eliminated gender stereotypes. Instead, new construction mechanisms have been derived under the joint action of algorithmic logic and platform capital. Based on media construction theory and gender stereotype theory, this article systematically analyzes the construction path and stereotype representation of women's professional image in digital media. The study found that digital media has created three core stereotype patterns: "age-ability misalignment", "appearance priority" and "double bind" through the triple mechanism of algorithm amplification, visual priority and narrative framework. Its influence has penetrated from the cognitive level to career evaluation and opportunity allocation. This article further proposes a three-dimensional collaborative strategy of technical governance, content ecological optimization and media literacy improvement, providing a reference for building a diverse and equal digital gender communication order.
