Current Practices for Implementing Innovations in Clinical Medicine and Healthcare Organization
Abstract
This article examines the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and healthcare. The authors note that, despite Russia’s apparent lag in the number of scientific publications on the topic, this is more likely due to poor indexing in databases, while the research itself is actively being conducted. AI is already widely used for image analysis (CT scans, X-rays), telemedicine, robotic surgery, emergency care for patient triage, and in medical education and research. However, the implementation of AI faces a number of challenges. These include terminological confusion, technical challenges (such as AI “hallucinations” and natural language translation errors), as well as serious ethical issues such as data privacy and accountability for decisions. The article highlights the rapid development and enormous potential of AI in healthcare and medicine to transform all areas of medicine, while simultaneously pointing at the need for a cautious, standardized, and ethical approach to its implementation.
