ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING BEYOND COMPLIANCE: INTEGRATING ESG GOVERNANCE, CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY, ENVIRONMENTAL AUDITING AND STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT INTO ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Abstract
Environmental Engineering has undergone a profound and strategic transformation in the 21st century, evolving from its traditional focus on regulatory compliance, licensing, and pollution control into a multifaceted discipline that is indispensable to corporate governance, organizational resilience, and strategic management. This article analyzes how the integration of Environmental Engineering with the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), environmental auditing, risk management, circular economy, and digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and predictive analytics, provides a foundation for organizational excellence. Through a systemic approach, it demonstrates that the application of engineering methodologies transforms sustainability goals into measurable operational systems, reducing liabilities, optimizing resource use, and generating long-term economic, institutional, and environmental value.
