TL;DR

It has been proven that in patients with overweight and severe degenerative-dystrophic lesions of large joints, BMD assessment and local analysis of the epimetiphyseal zones of the knee joint possess high diagnostic accuracy, allowing timely diagnosis of osteoporosis and verification of sarcopenic changes.

Abstract

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive analysis of bone mineral density (BMD) in 930 women over 55 years of age in the Uzbek population using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). The methodology of densitometric studies using standard protocols (lumbar spine, proximal femur) and an extended program for total body composition analysis (total body) is described in detail. Age and regional patterns of decline in T-score, BMD, and BMC indicators were revealed.

Comparison of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and lumbar radiographs using deep learning for osteoporosis diagnosis.

DL analysis of lumbar radiographs, combined with transfer learning and metaheuristic optimization, may support BMD category classification as a complementary screening tool for osteoporosis screening and diagnosis.

Application of Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry for Bone Mineral Density Screening in Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Cancer Survivors: A Multi-Institutional Study of 6 California Children's Hospitals.

Deficits in bone mineral density (BMD) represent a major late effect on survivors of childhood cancer and can lead to increased fracture risks and morbidity that can persist in late adulthood. Low BMD is defined as >2 SDs below the mean of the age- and sex-specific reference population (Z-score ≤-2). Current guidelines...

Evaluation of the relationship between automated software-derived bone health index and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry-measured bone mineral density in chinese children with chronic illness.

BHI should be regarded as a complementary tool rather than serving as a direct surrogate for DXA, as it highlights that BHI and DXA BMD assess distinct bone properties that are differentially influenced by systemic treatment like glucocorticoids.

Diagnostic efficacy of a novel bedside dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry device for the diagnosis of osteoporosis: a prospective cohort study

This novel bedside DXA possesses reliable diagnostic performance for osteoporosis when evaluated against an independent composite reference standard, and is promising for screening immobile inpatients, though peripheral-site measurements cannot fully replace WHO-standard central axial DXA assessment.

Correlation of Lumbar Spine MRI Signal Alterations with DEXA-derived Bone Mineral Density and T-scores: A Cross-sectional Analytical Study

Lumbar vertebral MRI signal alterations showed weak but statistically significant associations with DEXAderived BMD, suggesting that routinely acquired lumbar MRI may provide supplementary, opportunistic information on VBQ, although the modest strength of these correlations indicates that MRI signal cannot currently re...
