Abstract

This paper presents the development of the UniMAP Smart Bus Tracker, an IoT-based real-time monitoring system designed to enhance campus shuttle efficiency. The architecture integrates an ESP32 microcontroller with a NEO-6M GPS module for location telemetry and an RC522 RFID reader for automated passenger identification and seat occupancy tracking. Data is synchronized via a Firebase Realtime Database, enabling a mobile application to provide students with live updates on bus arrival schedules and real-time seat availability. Experimental results confirm successful hardware-software integration and reliable data transfer between the Arduino IDE and cloud storage. This scalable solution addresses transport uncertainties and reduces passenger anxiety by providing precise, accessible travel information within academic environments
