Computational Investigation of Non-Newtonian Inelastic Fluid Flows Through Axisymmetric Contraction Based on the Taylor Galerkin/Pressure Correction Method
Abstract
The article aims to consider the axisymmetric contraction flow of a viscous fluid under thermal conditions. Computational analyses of inelastic fluids in 4:1 sharp and rounded-corner contraction geometries are performed, based on a modified Taylor-Galerkin/pressure-corrected (TG-PC-A) finite element method, which shows high accuracy and efficiency. Particularly, this study focuses on power-law fluids exhibiting shear-thinning and shear-thickening behavior. The main point is how changes in the dimensionless parameters affect how fluids flow. In this context, the effects of inelastic model parameters, specifically the Reynolds and Peclet numbers, on the solution components are thoroughly examined. The outcomes indicated that these parameters exert a substantial influence on the thermal and hydrodynamic characteristics of the flow. Additionally, all results obtained are in agreement with the findings of prior studies.
