Abstract

Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) is a prevalent endocrine-metabolic disorder in reproductive age with an estimated global increasing rate ranging from 10-15% due to modern lifestyle changes. The term PMOS emphasizes the multisystem endocrine, metabolic, and ovarian dimensions of the condition rather than implying that true ovarian cysts are the defining feature. In this case study, we are presenting a case of a 20 year-old female with a 2-year history of irregular menses and an obesity issue (25% rise from normal weight). The ultrasound revealed bulky ovaries with echogenic stroma and a few peripherally placed follicles. The patient underwent a proper, customized ayurvedic treatment, including internal medicine, Yogabasti, diet, lifestyle modification, and Yoga. Over a period of nine months, the ultrasound scan report showed normalization in ovarian size and no signs of peripheral follicles, indicating an improvement in PMOS. Additionally, the patient experienced considerable improvement, including regular menstrual cycles and a normal weight (reducing from 70kg to 56kg). This individualized Ayurvedic approach highlights the potential effectiveness of Ayurvedic management for PMOS.
