Abstract
Attitude maneuvers of dumbbell-shaped flexible spacecraft are bottlenecked by rigid-flexible cross-coupling and dense, extremely low-frequency structural modes. In this paper, consider the case of large flexible spacecraft with low flexural modes and coupling with the bandwidth of the control system. To circumvent the frequency aliasing and dimensionality explosion inherent in complex online adaptive estimators, this paper proposes a passivity-based, dual-loop robust control framework. At the trajectory level, a sinusoidal spectral-notch path planning algorithm is formulated to analytically enforce source energy isolation precisely at the structural fundamental frequency. At the execution level, an outer-loop robust PD controller accommodates lumped uncertainties, while an inner-loop, collocated Positive Position Feedback (PPF) controller redistributes robustness through a wide-notch damping envelope (

Tomographic synthetic aperture radar (TomoSAR) missions require precise attitude control in the presence of low-frequency, weakly damped vibrations from large flexible appendages. To overcome the conservatism of model-based controllers and the lack of safety guarantees in data-driven approaches, this study aims to...

In this paper, a novel robust flight control strategy, named Backstepping Nonsingular Terminal Sliding Mode Control (BNTSMC), is proposed for a six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) subjected to unmodeled dynamics, parametric uncertainties, and time-varying external disturbances. Quadroto...

This report studies and compares four families of Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithms for autonomous spacecraft rendezvous guidance: Linear MPC, Tube MPC, Fast/Embedded MPC, and Successive Convexification (SCvx). Using the Clohessy-Wiltshire-Hill (CWH) relative-motion model, we show that the marginal stability of...
This paper presents a constrained iterative Linear Quadratic Regulator (Box-iLQR) method for nonlinear aerospace optimal-control problems with bounded states and controls. Logarithmic barrier functions are used with a two-fold objective: the barrier parameter is reduced toward zero to recover the constrained optimal tr...
