ISU DAN PERMASALAHAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM DI INDONESIA
Abstract
Islamic education in Indonesia is an integral part of the national education system, serving not only as a medium for knowledge transfer but also for shaping students’ morals, ethics, and spirituality. This article aims to examine contemporary issues and challenges in Islamic education, including disparities among institutions, teacher professionalism, curriculum integration between religious and general knowledge, as well as the challenges of digitalization and globalization. The study employs a qualitative approach through library research, analyzing secondary sources from books, journals, and educational policy documents published between 2014 and 2025. The findings indicate that Islamic education faces tensions between traditional normative values and 21st-century competency demands, limited facilities, low teacher digital literacy, and insufficiently integrated curricula. Adaptive and holistic development strategies that combine Islamic values, modern pedagogy, and digital literacy are essential for improving educational quality. The study recommends a synergistic approach to curriculum enhancement, teacher professionalism, infrastructure, and digital technology to produce graduates who are knowledgeable, morally upright, and prepared to face global challenges.
