BLOOD BIOCHEMICAL METABOLITES OF FEMALE RUSSIAN STURGEON (ACIPENSER GUELDENSTAEDTII) FROM BROODSTOCK IN CAGE FARMING IN THE VOLGA DELTA
Abstract
Biochemical blood metabolites were studied in 71 female Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) at various stages of gonadal maturity (II, III, IV). The females were raised "from caviar" in the breeding stock of a mature fish farm in the Volga Delta. The total protein content was 42.31–43.97 g/l, with no differences between the groups. However, a statistically significant difference in albumin levels was found: the maximum concentration (24.33 ± 0.78 g/l) was recorded in fish of the second group (NWG III), and the minimum (20.28 ± 0.67 g/l) was recorded in the third group (NWG IV). The albumin-globulin index also showed significant differences, reaching a maximum in the second group (1.50 ± 0.14). A significant increase in cholesterol levels was found in individuals of the third group (5.27 ± 0.39 mmol/l) compared with the first (3.31 ± 0.21 mmol/l) and the second (3.52 ± 0.26 mmol/l) groups. The results obtained indicate that the stage of gonad maturity significantly affects the metabolic profile of female Russian sturgeon.
