Abstract

Sustainable floriculture requires the use of inputs with a lower environmental footprint. Microorganisms that promote plant growth and development are viable and promising alternatives. The effect of the encapsulated native strains Candida orthopsilosis (B20), Pseudomonas tolaasii (P61), and Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (B2) on the white gladiolus cultivar 80 was evaluated. Plant height, stem thickness, number of leaves, spike length, stem height (stem+spike), number of flowers per spike, corm, and corm production were quantified. The experiment was conducted in pots with sterilized substrate, under a randomized block design. Results showed that B20 and P61 had a positive and significant effect on the cultivar, inducing a 26% increase in plant height, 41% in stem diameter, and 50% in number of leaves, as well as an extra 20 cm in stem height compared to the control, a factor that contributes to floral quality.
