Abstract

This article examines the regional differentiation of the platform economy and assesses the impact of digital platforms on the innovation activity of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The relevance of this study stems from the increasing spatial heterogeneity of digital development in Russian regions and the need to develop scientifically sound approaches to assessing platform effects in the context of digital economic transformation. The objective of this study is to identify the specific features of regional differentiation in the platform economy and determine the impact of digital platforms on the innovation activity of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The methodological basis of this study includes systemic, institutional, and ecosystem approaches, comparative and economic-statistical analysis, and econometric modeling. This paper explores the theoretical foundations of regional differentiation in the platform economy, substantiates the role of platform ecosystems in shaping regional innovation activity, and identifies the spatial distribution of platform effects. It establishes that the impact of digital platforms on innovation development is heterogeneous and is determined by the level of development of digital infrastructure, human capital, the institutional environment, and the degree of regional engagement in platform ecosystems. A model for reducing regional differentiation in the platform economy is proposed, based on the integrated development of digital infrastructure, platform ecosystems, and innovative development institutions. The results can be used in developing public policy in the digital economy and in improving mechanisms for managing innovative development in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
