In the context of the SDGs, the logistics industry is under growing pressure to speed up its low-carbon transition. This study employs the Super-Slack-Based Measure (SBM) to measure the carbon emission efficiency of the logistics industry (LCEE), and adopts the panel fixed-effects model and the spatial Durbin model to investigate the impact of the China–Europe Railway Express (CRE) on LCEE. The findings reveal that regional disparities in carbon emission efficiency within China’s logistics industry have intensified. However, the CRE significantly enhances LCEE and generates positive spillover effects on LCEE in neighboring regions, suggesting its potential role in facilitating cross-regional collaborative emission reduction. Transportation structure optimization (TSO) and green technology innovation (GTI) serve as the two mechanisms through which the CRE affects LCEE. Cross-border rail transport generates substitution effects for road and water transportation, which facilitates supply chain logistics coordination. The heterogeneity results show that the CRE exerts a stronger effect on LCEE in inland regions and those with greater trade openness. Our findings offer empirical support and policy insights for advancing low-carbon logistics, optimizing supply chain spatial configurations, and fostering coordinated inter-regional emissions abatement through the CRE.
China has proposed dual carbon goals to advance its sustainable development. As one of the country’s major sources of carbon emissions, effective emission control of the transportation sector is central to achieving these goals. There is a lack of research on the optimal allocation of emission reduction targets across...
The sustainable transformation of cold chain logistics in China’s Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) plays a pivotal role in fostering the broader national transition toward sustainability. Anchored in the principles of sustainable development, this study employs the super-efficiency slack-based measure and the global...

The rapid expansion of the digital economy is reshaping the logistics industry. Its environmental effects are critical for the sector’s green transition. Using panel data from 30 Chinese provinces from 2011 to 2022, this study constructs a digital economy composite index via the entropy method. It then applies a two-wa...
The rapid development of transportation in China has brought heavy environmental burdens including high energy consumption and carbon emission, which calls for a rigorous assessment of traffic carbon emission efficiency to guide the dual-carbon strategic objectives of the country. Although the academic attention is gro...

Purpose. Due to large-scale aggression and security threats to the functioning of logistics infrastructure in Ukraine, ensuring stable exports of products from the agro-industrial complex (AIC) and the mining and metallurgical complex (MMC) has become critically challenging. In 2026, the rail transport tariff reform em...
