Abstract

This study aims to develop Minecraft game-based media to foster the character of cooperation among third-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 066052 Medan. The study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D development model, which comprises the stages of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Quantitative data were collected through needs assessment questionnaires, expert validation questionnaires, and teacher and student response questionnaires, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews, observations, documentation, and suggestions from validators. The results indicate that the Minecraft game-based media achieved a high level of validity, with media expert validation scoring 88% and subject matter expert validation scoring 89%. Furthermore, practicality test results based on teacher and student responses showed a score of 90% for both groups, placing the media in the “highly practical” category. The development of this media provides an engaging and interactive learning alternative that integrates digital game elements with character education. Through collaborative activities in Minecraft, students can participate actively in learning while developing cooperation, communication, responsibility, and social interaction skills. Therefore, Minecraft game-based media can be considered a valid and practical learning medium for supporting cooperation character development among elementary school students.
