Let $G$ be a graph. Under an \emph{injective edge coloring} of $G$, any two edges at distance $2$ or belonging to a common triangle receive distinct colors. The \emph{injective chromatic index} of $G$, denoted by $\chi'_{inj}(G)$, is the smallest integer $k$ such that $G$ admits an injective edge coloring with $k$ colors. Let $\Delta$ be the maximum degree of $G$. Ferdjallah et al.~proved that $\chi'_{inj}(G) \le 2(\Delta-1)^2$. In this paper, we improve this bound by proving that $\chi'_{inj}(G) \le 2(\Delta - 1)^2 -\Delta + 3$ if $\Delta \ge 4$.
For a graph $G$, a proper edge coloring of $G$ is called a D-coloring if every diamond subgraph of $G$ is rainbow. Let $\chi'_D(G)$ be the D-chromatic index of $G$, which is the smallest integer $k$ such that $G$ admits a D-coloring with $k$ colors. Let $\Delta$ be the maximum degree of $G$. The only known Brooks-type...
A B-coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper edge-coloring in which every $4$-cycle receives four distinct colors; let $q_B(G)$ be the minimum number of colors in such a coloring. Every graph of maximum degree $\Delta$ is $K_{2,\Delta+1}$-free; hence the known $2\Delta$ bound for planar graphs with $\Delta\ge38$ (Kong et al...
A $B$-coloring of a graph is a proper edge-coloring in which every $4$-cycle is rainbow, and $q_B(G)$ denotes the minimum number of colors in such a coloring. Let $\Delta_2(G)$ denote the maximum number of common neighbors of two distinct vertices of $G$. We prove that, for integers $1\le d\le\Delta$, every finite simp...
An $r$-dynamic coloring of a graph $G$ is a proper vertex coloring in which every vertex $v$ sees at least $\min\{r,d(v)\}$ distinct colors in its neighborhood. The minimum number of colors in such a coloring is the $r$-dynamic chromatic number $\chi_r^d(G)$. We study dynamic colorings of regular graphs. A straighforwa...
An equitable $k$-coloring of a graph partitions its vertex set into $k$ independent sets whose sizes differ by at most one; the least such $k$ is the equitable chromatic number $\chie(G)$. Every known bound on $\chie$ valid for all graphs, beginning with the Hajnal--Szemer\'edi theorem, is linear in the maximum degree...
Let $P_t$ denote the induced path on $t$ vertices. Let $\omega(G)$ denote the maximum number of vertices in a clique of a graph $G$. Gy\'arf\'as (1987) proved that every $P_t$-free graph $G$ satisfies $\chi(G)\le(t-1)^{\omega(G)-1}$, and Gravier, Ho\`ang, and Maffray (2003) improved this to $\chi(G)\le (t-2)^{\omega(G)...
