Abstract

SMK Negeri 1 Ende still uses a conventional paper-based test method in conducting grade 12 examinations. This method causes various problems, such as high costs for duplicating questions and answer sheets, long correction processes, risk of losing or damaging exam documents, and potential calculation errors due to manual recapitulation.  This research aims to design and develop a computer-based test (CBT) information system for grade 12 at SMK Negeri 1 Ende that can be used by admin, teachers, and students. The system development method applied is the Waterfall model, which consists of requirement analysis, system design, coding, program testing, and program implementation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The system was designed using UML and implemented using PHP programming language with MySQL as the database. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach by describing the current exam system conditions, identifying problems, and analyzing system requirements. System testing was conducted using the Black Box Testing method. The results indicate that the CBT system was successfully designed and built with features for managing user data, classes, subjects, question banks, online exams, automatic scoring, and grade reports. All system features function properly based on Black Box Testing, so the system is declared accurate, efficient, and easy to use. This system is feasible and beneficial as a digital solution to replace paper-based exams.
