Prophetic Theology and Social Justice: Faith Responses to Climate Change and Economic Inequality

Sep 2026 · International Journal of Religion and Cultural Practice · 0 citations

Abstract

This paper examines how prophetic theology intersects with social justice as a response to two of the most urgent global issues of today climate change and economic inequality. Using theological traditions, the paper will investigate how the religious communities, under the prophetic theological models, can solve the unequal effects of such crises on vulnerable people. Through critical analysis of the voices of prophets in the past and present, the paper brings to the fore essential theological ideas, including justice, stewardship and solidarity with the marginalized. Also, the article examines faith-based reactions, such as grassroots movements, interfaith movements, and eco-theological movements, which are aimed at alleviating the environmental degradation and economic inequity. These findings imply that prophetic theology can provide a moral rationale, as well as a guide to social change that is transformative. This paper highlights the significance of theological involvement in advancing sustainable, fair solutions and proposes additional research into faith-based action in the justice movement of the world.
