Study on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Speed Control System in Electric Vehicle Drive System
Abstract
Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) are extensively utilised in electric vehicle (EV) drive systems, and the control efficacy of the motor's speed regulation system influences driving comfort and safety. This paper proposes a control methodology for the PMSM speed control system within an electric vehicle drive system, utilising an improved super-twisting sliding mode observer (STSMO) and a fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) speed controller. The performance of this control system is evaluated against the original PMSM speed control system under no-load conditions, abrupt load variations, and variable speed scenarios. The findings indicate that the improved PMSM speed control system, in contrast to the original system, significantly mitigates system chattering and ameliorates the phase lag issue in the rotor position estimation, thereby enhancing the accuracy of the rotor position estimation. Furthermore, in comparison to the original speed control system, the improved PMSM speed control system exhibits superior performance metrics, including responsiveness and stability, under the aforementioned three scenarios.
