Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Kartu Kata untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Membaca Permulaan Siswa di Kelas I MI Riadhussolihin Thohir Yasin Tahun Pelajaran 2025/2026

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low initial reading ability of first-grade students at MI Riadhussholihin Thohir Yasin. It aimed to improve students’ initial reading ability through word card learning media in Class I during the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. Instruments included teacher and student activity observation sheets and a reading skill assessment sheet. Data were analyzed by calculating the average score and the percentage of classical mastery. The success indicators were an individual minimum score of 70 and classical mastery of at least 85%. The results showed that word card learning media improved students’ initial reading ability. In Cycle I, the total score was 1,984, with an average score of 76; 15 students achieved mastery, representing 58% classical mastery. Teacher activity was 92.5%, while student activity was 77.5%. In Cycle II, the total score increased to 2,399, with an average score of 92; 23 students achieved mastery, representing 88% classical mastery. Teacher activity increased to 100%, and student activity to 92.5%. Thus, the success indicators were achieved in Cycle II.
