Abstract

Dental anomalies are developmental alterations that can be classified according to the number, size, shape, structure, and position of the teeth. Dental agenesis is characterized by failure of the formation of the dental germ in one or more teeth, and its etiology remains poorly understood, although it is believed to be multifactorial. The maxillary lateral incisors are the most vulnerable teeth and, when absent, significantly affect smile aesthetics and individual self-esteem. Management of this condition typically involves orthodontic intervention to recover space, followed by fabrication of a dental prosthesis, canine recontouring, or placement of a dental implant. It is essential for the dental surgeon to consider the patient's age, the position of dental elements, and occlusion, as these factors help establish the ideal treatment plan. This case report describes the diagnosis of bilateral agenesis of the maxillary lateral incisors in a young female patient, whose treatment plan included space recovery using orthodontic appliances and the fabrication of an adhesive fixed prosthesis. The use of an adhesive fixed prosthesis enabled preservation of dental structure, reduced cost, expedited execution, and satisfactory aesthetics, thus representing an excellent therapeutic option.
