The Methodological Tools for Research and Assessment of the Competitiveness of Economic Entities
Abstract
The article focuses on developing methodological tools for researching and assessing the competitiveness of economic entities under the conditions of a green economic transformation. The relevance of the research topic is driven by deepening ecological, social, and institutional changes in the modern economic environment, the spread of sustainable development principles, circular economy, and ESG-oriented management, which requires a rethink of traditional approaches to assessing enterprise competitiveness. The methodological framework, mostly formed within an economy-centered paradigm, does not fully reflect the latest factors forming competitive advantages, which makes its scientific update necessary. The study aims to develop methodological tools for researching and assessing the competitiveness of economic entities in the context of a green economic transformation. To achieve the set aim, the article examines the theoretical foundations for constructing the methodological tools for assessing competitiveness, its structure, functional purpose, and the place of research methods within the overall system of methodological support. Traditional methodological approaches to assessing the competitiveness of enterprises have been examined, and their strengths and limitations have been identified in the context of contemporary ecological and socioeconomic challenges. The architectonics of the methodological tools for research of competitiveness has been substantiated as a multi-level system of interconnected methodological approaches, principles, methods, criteria, indicators, and procedures for analytical information processing. It was revealed that the key areas for improving the methodological tools include expanding the criteria for selecting assessment methods, integrating sustainable development principles, and considering resource circularity, economic and ecological efficiency, long-term resilience, socio-ecological legitimacy, and managerial and institutional capacity of enterprises. The practical implementation of these proposals will help improve the reliability of assessing competitive advantages, make well-founded managerial decisions, and strengthen the long-term competitiveness of economic entities amid structural, technological, and regulatory transformations.
