Determination Of The Relationship Between Preoperative Information Requirements and Anxiety Levels of Day Surgery Patients
Abstract
This study aimed to determine the relationship between preoperative information needs and anxiety levels in day surgery patients. This descriptive, cross-sectional, correlational study was conducted with 156 patients undergoing day surgery in a foundation university hospital in Istanbul between February and May 2022. Data were collected using the Patients’ Descriptive Characteristics Form, Anxiety Specific to Surgery Questionnaire and Patient Learning Needs Scale. Descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman correlation analysis were used. The mean Anxiety Specific to Surgery Questionnaire score was 21.94±5.81, and the mean Patient Learning Needs Scale score was 131.81±19.50, indicating moderate anxiety and learning needs.
