Development and Implementation of a Blockchain-Integrated ABAC Framework for Secure Multi-Tenant Cloud Environments
Abstract
The multi-tenant cloud computing structure can be vulnerable to a range of well-known security problems, including unauthorized cross-tenant access and overprivileged identities. This research introduced a hybrid Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) framework that employs the Polygon blockchain to enhance digital civil registry security within multi-tenant cloud computing. It is a seven-layered defense-in-depth framework that uses Twofish encryption and SHA-256 hashing as part of the overall solution. The results of the completed experiments confirm a 100% success rate in achieving tenant isolation and preventing unauthorized access. The use of the blockchain consensus introduced an average latency between 6.09 and 9.88 seconds. By limiting on-chain transactions to security-critical transactions, high throughputs were achieved. Overall, this framework represented an inexpensive and secure means of ensuring data protection in LGU services, with transaction costs ranging from $0.0004 to $0.0009 MATIC.
