Abstract

This dataset contains the operational data generated by a cloud-based smart-irrigation system that ran three irrigation decision strategies in parallel for lettuce at a university experimental farm in Dois Vizinhos, Paraná, Brazil:a Reinforcement Learning controller (PPO);a Rule-Based System (RBS);a Hybrid RL+RBS controller. The data cover the period from 23 December 2025 to 29 April 2026. This period includes the four 30-day cultivation cycles evaluated in the associated article:Cycle 1: 23/12/2025–21/01/2026Cycle 2: 22/01/2026–20/02/2026Cycle 3: 01/03/2026–30/03/2026Cycle 4: 31/03/2026–29/04/2026The system ran on Amazon Web Services (AWS IoT Core, MQTT, Amazon S3). Every message exchanged between the meteorological services, the decision modules and the field control units was stored as a JSON file in Amazon S3. This archive is a direct export of those records. The original folder structure and file names were kept. Most records are organized by date (YYYY/MM/DD).

Key Challenges in Software Startups Across Life Cycle Stages

It is found that what perceived as biggest challenges by software startups do vary across different life cycle stages, even though its significance decreases when the learning focuses of the startups move from problem to solution and their products mature.
