The Endocrinologist’s role in the metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease epidemic: From metabolic care to hepatoprotection

Sep 2026 · Journal of Association of Clinical Endocrinologist and Diabetologist of Bangladesh · 0 citations · 1 references

Abstract

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease is now recognized as a multisystem metabolic disorder rooted in insulin resistance, shifting the frontline of care from hepatologists to endocrinologists. Endocrinologists act as "gateway specialists," managing cardiovascular and metabolic complications in low-risk cases while referring advanced fibrosis cases to hepatologists through prompt screening.
