Sustainable Aquaculture Practices: Innovations in Fish Health Management and Environmental Conservation
Abstract
Aquaculture has emerged as one of the fastest-growing food production sectors globally, contributing significantly to food security, employment, and economic development. However, intensification of fish farming has led to increased disease outbreaks, environmentaldegradation, antimicrobial misuse, and water quality deterioration. Sustainable aquaculture practices integrating fish health management withenvironmental conservation are therefore essential to ensure long-term productivity and ecological balance. This study critically examinesmodern innovations in sustainable aquaculture, including probiotic-based disease control, biofloc technology (BFT), integrated multi-trophicaquaculture (IMTA), and eco-friendly water quality management systems.
