Evaluating stability of miR-891a and miR-10a markers in semen samples to various conditions

Estimating the stability of miR-10a and miR-891a in semen samples exposed to environmental conditions relevant to forensic casework found that miR-891a showed greater relative stability than miR-10a under the tested conditions, and may represent a promising biomarker for semen identification in forensic casework.

Creating DNAm Algorithms Using the Illumina Methylation Screening Array (MSA)

A reproducibility-based framework for developing and transferring DNAm algorithms on the MSA, where reduced probe content does not preclude reproducible DNA methylation biomarker measurement, and transfer strategy must be matched to model architecture.

Simultaneous identification of saliva and semen by DNA methylation analysis using quantitative PCR and droplet digital PCR.

DNA methylation analysis is crucial in forensic science for age estimation, body fluid identification, and differentiating monozygotic twins. While massively parallel sequencing (MPS) and single-base extension (SBE) are standard, they are often time-consuming and costly. This study evaluated the feasibility of using qu...

Pangenomes aid accurate detection of large insertions and deletions from targeted sequencing: the case of cardiomyopathies

The results indicate that pangenome-based workflows aid improved detection of large variants from targeted sequencing data in the clinical context and suggest that they may contribute to more unified variant detection frameworks for all-size genetic variants in the future.
