Safety Misconduct Affecting Safety Performance During Implementation of Infrastructure Pan Borneo Highway Construction Site
Abstract
The infrastructure construction process is hazardous and can lead to a variety of accidents, ranging from minor injuries to fatalities. The construction team faces enormous challenges in ensuring that safety performance remains high. The Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) project, an ongoing megaproject in Malaysia costing billions of dollars, is used as a case study in this research. Data collected through questionnaires survey from the case study which has been conducted at the Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) Construction Site. RII and SPSS were used to analyse the data. Legitimacy of reliability were done using the Cronbach’s alpha. Based on the ranked top 10 factors, research has found that five out of ten sub factors are from management related factor, two out of ten factors are from material and equipment related factor, two out of ten factors are from workplace related factor and last one factor comes under worker involvement factor. This shows that the major impact on the safety management at construction site are coming from the management related factors.
