Abstract

This study explored how emerging technologies, including big data and AI, are reshaping employment competence development in technical and vocational education and training. Drawing on publications from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) and Scopus databases between 2015 and 2025, the research applied bibliometric and qualitative analysis to examine knowledge evolution and research trends. The findings indicated a steady increase in scholarly output, with China and several Asia-Pacific countries playing leading roles, although international collaboration remained limited. The field shifted from early adoption of immersive technologies to more integrated, data-driven, and intelligent approaches. Key application models and implementation challenges were also identified. The study highlighted the need for balanced skill development, industry-responsive curricula, and more inclusive digital environments to support sustainable advancement in vocational education.
