Artificial Intelligence and Health: A New Era for Medicine

Oct 2026 · JPC - Journal of Pediatrics and Childcare · 0 citations

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming Medicine, with applications ranging from diagnostic imaging and clinical decision support to generative AI, scientific research, public health surveillance, and personalized care. The integration of machine learning, large language models, and multimodal systems offers significant opportunities to improve diagnostic accuracy, optimize healthcare workflows, expand access, and support more predictive and individualized care. However, these advances also raise important challenges related to clinical validation, algorithmic bias, data privacy, transparency, professional responsibility, and patient safety. Human supervision therefore remains essential, as AI should support rather than replace medical judgment. Ultimately, the future of Medicine will depend on the responsible integration of human intelligence, scientific knowledge, and artificial intelligence, while preserving the patient as the central focus of healthcare.
