The Role of Agribusiness in Export Promotion of Nigerian Agricultural Products
Abstract
Agribusiness integrates the production, processing, and marketing of agricultural products to enhance export performance. This study investigates the role of agribusiness in promoting Nigerian agricultural exports, focusing on Sesami Agro Allied Limited. The research design used in this report is descriptive, utilizing a questionnaire method to obtain information from the respondents for this project. Data were obtained from 200 respondents using structured questionnaires. The findings show that 80% agreed that agribusiness practices improve quality and quantity, 35% identified infrastructure as a challenge, 75% affirmed policy support influences exports, and 30% prioritized modern techniques. Furthermore, value addition and market access were noted as key strategies. The outcome of this research indicates that effective agribusiness practices, supportive policies, and strategic interventions drive export performance in Nigeria. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that agribusinesses should adopt modern production techniques and mechanized farming practices to improve the quality and quantity of agricultural products for export. Firms should also implement value addition processes, quality control measures, and proper packaging standards to meet international market requirements and enhance competitiveness.
