EXPLORING ANTIGEN-SPECIFIC ANTIBODIES: MECHANISMS, DEVELOPMENT, AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

Sep 2026 · Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research · 0 citations

Abstract

Antigen-specific antibodies that bind to antigens play vital roles in adaptive immune defense; specifically, these are: Targeting and destroying bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens; forming immunological memory against previously encountered pathogens for future protection; diagnostic testing; and the development of vaccines and medicinal treatments. This paper reviews in detail how these antibodie recognize antigens, how B-cells become determined by tracing back through the antibodies by clonal selection methods, how monoclonal antibodies are developed, what lab testing procedures are available to measure antigen-specific antibody responses, where antigen-specific antibodies are involved in a variety of immune diseases, including infections, autoimmune disorders, allergies, neoplasms as part of cancer immunotherapy, and how new technologies including monoclonal antibody engineering and recombinant platforms are being developed and used as part of antibody testing. Classical immunology, recent advances in immunotherapy, and the integration of referenced scholarly literature support the referenced statements throughout this paper.
