Abstract

One of the distinguishing characteristics of the Anthropocene is the destruction of times and places of refuge. This article adopts the perspective of feminist new materialism to examine two artworks Monumento para el monte impronunciable (2023) by Indira Montoya and En el monte (2023–2024) by Mónica Jacobo, two artists from Córdoba, Argentina, who imagine alternative ways of inhabiting a wounded planet. The concepts of posthuman figuration and sympoietic landscape are introduced to dismantle the idea of human supremacy, rooted in the affirmation of the anthropos and its desire for dominion over the existent, in order to compose a shared landscape with other-beings-who-matter, because there is no way to inhabit that is not with others. Contemporary artistic practices allow us to venture into relationalities, interdependencies, and collaborative survivals.
