MEDIA DISCOURSE AS A FACTOR IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF LINGUISTIC PERSONALITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE DIGITALISATION OF FOREIGN-LANGUAGE EDUCATION
Abstract
The article examines the influence of contemporary media discourse on the transformation of students’ linguistic personality in the context of the digitalisation of foreign-language education. The theoretical framework draws on Yu. N. Karaulov’s three-level model of linguistic personality and M. McLuhan’s media theory. The empirical basis comprises survey data collected from 50 third-year students of a language university. Based on the findings, the authors argue for the necessity of developing media communicative competence as a new target construct in language didactics and identify priority directions for updating foreign-language teaching methodology in the context of digital transformation and artificial intelligence development.
